LG Optimus Black (P970)

I've got this phone for about a year now, using it daily. It performs pretty good.

Specs:

- 1GHz processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 4" WVGA NOVA display (800x480 pixels)
- Corning Gorilla Glass 1.0
- 1GB internal memory (only for apps)
- MicroSDHC compatible (2GB card included, up to 32GB expandable)
-Runs out of the box Android 2.2.2 FroYo, upgradeable to 2.3.4 Gingerbread (update to 4.0 IceCreamSandwich should arrive soon)
- 5 Megapixel camera + 2 Megapixel front-facing
- WiFi 802.11 bgn
- Bluetooth 2.0
- GPS

The phone itself is very thin, but nonetheless it feels pretty solid in your hand. The UI feels pretty snappy all-round. The Optimus 2.0 interface is quite nice. But some things, like a fade in/out animation when enetering/exiting app menu ia missing. Also, mine being a black phone, I would've loved to see a darer theme to the messaging and contacts app, which are very nice to use.
The stock keyboard is pretty good, but I preferred to install a dark themed one.

Whats cool:
This phone features a unique gesture set. These mostly work with the stock launcher, and are pretty cool. On the left-hand side of the phone, there is the"G" key. When you tilt the phone with that key pressed, you can go through your homescreens like that.
In the gallery, when you are watching photos, to change photos, it's enough to tap the left/right side of the phone. This also works in the music player app.
Another cool feauture, is the display, big and bright. I found it very nice to use in direct sunlight. Also having GorillaGlass on top, it's scratch resistant and very tough.
Last not least, the soft-buttons light up blue when you press them. If I press the home button, it lights up blue for about a sec and the other one turn on white. After a sec, tge pressed button turns too white.
The battery life is quite good, lasts almost a full day of high intense use.

Negatives:

Well, being so thin, means there isn't much space. When I first bought it, the earphone speaker couldn't handle maximum volume, and crackles.
The secondary camera, has by now no use other than to take portrait photos.
After some time, squeaks appeared at the back cover. Also, the back cover gets easily scratched.

Conclusion:

It's a good phone. I'm using it daily, and I'm satisfied of how it performs. Videos stream very good, internet runs smooth. It's pretty tough, it handled some falls and the screen still isn't scratched. The camera is decent, but performs weak in low-light conditions, even with the flash on. It's a decent mid-high range phone.
